MORE ROLE PLAY :

THURSDAY...
4 FEBRUARY 2010 :

Today we learned some more things about our selves and our
team mates. We did some more communication skills and we interacted with our team members. As a tour guide you need to be able to handle a difficult clients in difficult situations.

So we wer
e giving a scenario. I was the guest and Antonet was the tour guide. So the situation was that we went on a bus tour and on our way back the air con broke. So now, me as the guest asked a whole lot of question, I had a temper and I was on Antoinet's back 24/7. I was the type of guest that nobody would want. She handled it very well, kept her cool and did all the right things and also said all the right things. I learned a lot from her and this experience we had.

I found it
very interesting and experiential, it was also a lot of fun. For me standing up in a crowed and speaking was hell. Since I've been at Sondela I've gained more confidence and I'm not that shy anymore. They have developed me and my communication skills. I thank Sondela and chef Edward for helping me gain more self confidence.

FRIDAY...
5 FEBRUARY 2010 :
PRACTISING WELCOMING :

Today is all about h
ow to great the guests and knowing what to say when. We have been told not to give out to much information to the guests, you might start boring them.

Today chef Edward presented himself as a guest and we had to welcome him and also answer all the questions he had for us. This prepared us to know ho
w to handle a guest and also what to say when. We also got analysed on where what was on the farm for when we get asked for directions. Welcoming is one of the most important things to do, its the first impression and this should be well organised.

You as manager of a farm want to satisfy your customers needs. Doing things that aren't expected and making them feel special is one way to confirm that they are going to return.. After we got interrogated we were off to implement what we have learned....
